Find the right check

Open your individual Dashboard and select the check you want to continue. Check the reference, purpose and current stage. You may have a self-purchased check or one requested by an organisation; follow the instructions attached to that particular request.

The individual demo contains fictional examples. Use it to explore the flow before entering real information in an authorised real account. Completing the demo does not submit an application.

Work through the stages

The check workspace separates personal details, document evidence, face verification, declaration and review as applicable. Use the stage navigation to see what is complete and what still requires attention. A stage may be locked until an earlier requirement is met.

Start with personal details so later checks can compare against the intended information. Capture documents in their dedicated step, then complete any requested face capture. Review everything before accepting a declaration.

Save and return

Use the stage’s save or continue control and wait for confirmation before leaving. A selected file or typed field is not necessarily saved until the screen acknowledges it. Return through your dashboard to resume the same reference.

If the session expires, sign in again and inspect the latest saved stage. Do not start a second check simply because you returned to a sign-in page.

Respond to requested corrections

Open the specific stage named in the request. Read the reason and provide the requested correction or new capture. Your organisation may track progress, but your own declaration and identity steps remain yours to complete.

Know when to stop and ask for help

If the applicant identity, requesting organisation or check purpose is wrong, pause and use the supported correction or Support route. Never enter someone else’s information to get past a required field. A payment or finished upload does not establish live DBS submission or an issued certificate.

Detailed walkthrough

1. Choose the check that needs you

Look first at Your next step. Match the reference and check type on the card to the request you intended to complete, especially if you have more than one application. In progress means you should read the current status before entering information again.

2. Keep the check reference

Use the reference on this sample card when asking for help. The check type explains which request you are viewing; its status describes progress. Neither a familiar organisation name nor a completed card alone establishes an official result.

3. Review the submitted sample

Read the Application summary to see how the stages come together. This sample is already submitted, so you can inspect its details without editing them. For a correction to a submitted application, ask for help using the check reference rather than starting a duplicate.

Practise this section

Open Help & tutorials, select this guide and choose Start practice walkthrough. Read each highlighted component before continuing. Use Back to revisit an explanation and Retry if a sample has not loaded. The walkthrough uses fictional records; do not enter real applicant information.

Use Exit tutorial to leave and keep your place, then Resume walkthrough in this guide to continue. When returning from practice to a real workspace, review the actual record and your permissions before making a change. Tutorial completion does not perform the underlying task.

Before using this guide

Open My checks in the Individual workspace. If several requests appear, identify the check reference and requesting organisation before continuing.

Worked example

One card may need your information while another is already in progress. Open the card whose next step requires you; do not start a duplicate application to move an existing one along.

Guided component walkthrough

Each component has one short guided step. Read the explanation, then choose Next; Back revisits the previous component. The cursor only demonstrates useful navigation or an explicit action. Replay action repeats that demonstration, and Skip animation keeps the explanation. Use this written guide for feature details.

My checks

  • My checks: Three groups: Your next step for anything waiting on you, In progress for checks with ClearDBS, and Completed checks.
  • Separate requests: Each check in My checks is its own request. Read the reference and current position before opening one; completing information for one request does not automatically complete another.
  • Choose the check that needs you: Look first at Your next step. Match the reference and check type on the card to the request you intended to complete, especially if you have more than one application. In progress means you should read the current status before entering information again.

Open the sample check

  • Open the sample check: This card carries the check type, its reference and its status. The next step opens it on its first stage.
  • Return to the same sample: The sample card gives you a stable place to practise. Keep its reference in mind when you return from the stage view so you can distinguish it from other check cards.
  • Keep the check reference: Use the reference on this sample card when asking for help. The check type explains which request you are viewing; its status describes progress. Neither a familiar organisation name nor a completed card alone establishes an official result.

Move between stages

  • Move between stages: The rail lists every stage of your check and marks the ones already done. The pointer opens Identity documents.

Application summary

  • Application summary: This sample is already submitted, so its stages are read-only. On a live check you confirm the declaration from here.
  • Review the submitted sample: Read the Application summary to see how the stages come together. This sample is already submitted, so you can inspect its details without editing them. For a correction to a submitted application, ask for help using the check reference rather than starting a duplicate.
