Prepare your information #

Read the fields requested by the check. Enter your own details accurately and follow the instructions for names, previous names and address history. Use the dedicated form rather than sending identity information to the assistant.

The required information depends on the actual workflow. Do not guess a missing date or invent an address to make a validation message disappear. Where unsure, use the available guidance or ask Support how to correct the record.

Complete each section #

1. Confirm the check reference and applicant identity.
2. Enter the requested current details.
3. Add previous information where the form requires it.
4. Review address dates and any gaps highlighted by validation.
5. Save and read the result before moving to another stage.

Changing a display name in your account profile is not the same as correcting the legal details on an application. Use the check’s own details screen for applicant information.

Review consistency #

Compare entered information with the evidence you intend to provide. A spelling difference, incomplete previous name or unexplained address gap can require follow-up. The interface may identify issues, but it cannot decide missing facts for you.

If a field is read-only after submission, use the supported correction process. Do not create a duplicate account or check to bypass the lock.

Resolve an unsuccessful save #

Read the message next to the affected field. Correct the value and submit again once. If the page loses connection, reopen the stage and check what was actually saved. Keep the reference and error wording when contacting Support, but do not send full identity evidence through a chat message.

1. Check spelling and date fields

Compare every part of the name and date of birth with the identity evidence you intend to use. Include requested previous-name information accurately. Use fictional details for practice; the sample demonstrates the fields without requiring your real identity information.

2. Read the address sequence

Work backwards from the current address using the dates shown in the Address timeline. Each row represents a period at one address. Review the month boundaries between rows so that a move does not leave an unexplained gap.

3. Resolve a gap before continuing

A gap in the Address timeline identifies a period that still needs an address. Review the neighbouring move dates and supply the address for that period in an editable application. Do not stretch a date simply to hide a genuine missing address.

Worked example #

If an old address ends in March and the next begins in May, review the timeline for the missing month. Supply the actual address for that period rather than extending a date solely to remove the warning.

Name and date of birth

• Name and date of birth: Enter the name exactly as it is printed on your identity document. Identity details sits directly below for the rest.
• Legal names: Read legal forenames and surname as separate values. On your own application, check spelling against the identity evidence you intend to supply before continuing to address history.
