Review details and complete a declaration

Check the information carefully and complete your own explicit declaration through the check page.

Review before declaring

Open the review or declaration stage of the correct check. Read the displayed information and any warnings or outstanding tasks. A complete-looking progress indicator does not replace checking the actual details.

Verify names, address information and the intended request. If something is inaccurate, return to the editable stage or follow the correction process before declaring it correct.

Read the declaration text

The declaration explains what you are confirming and any relevant consent. Read the current text on the screen in full. A tutorial or AI paraphrase does not replace that wording and cannot accept it on your behalf.

Only the intended applicant should complete their declaration. An organisation colleague tracking the check must not impersonate the applicant or provide their confirmation.

Submit through the dedicated control

  1. Confirm that required stages are ready.
  2. Read the declaration and consent text.
  3. Select the required confirmations only if they are accurate.
  4. Use the stage’s own submit or continue control.
  5. Wait for confirmation and inspect the resulting status.

If the screen reports validation errors or outstanding requirements, resolve those before trying again. Do not repeatedly click submission while a response is pending.

Understand what follows

Declaration completion may move the application into review or another processing step. It does not by itself establish that a live DBS submission was accepted or that a certificate has been issued. The demo illustrates the transition using synthetic state only.

If you discover an error after submission, use the supported correction or Support route promptly with the check reference. Do not submit another application as an informal replacement.

Detailed walkthrough

1. Review before confirming

Read the summary against the earlier stages: personal information, address history and the recorded evidence. Correct editable information before confirming a declaration. This sample is for inspection; no declaration is accepted or submitted by continuing the tutorial.

2. Recognise locked stages

The stage rail remains useful after submission because it lets you read the submitted information. A completed or locked stage should not be interpreted as an invitation to submit again. Use the check reference when requesting a correction to a submitted record.

3. Separate account and application details

The Name and date of birth panel belongs to this application. Updating a display name elsewhere in your account does not establish that a submitted application was corrected. Recheck the actual application details when a correction has been resolved.

Practise this section

Open Help & tutorials, select this guide and choose Start practice walkthrough. Read each highlighted component before continuing. Use Back to revisit an explanation and Retry if a sample has not loaded. The walkthrough uses fictional records; do not enter real applicant information.

Use Exit tutorial to leave and keep your place, then Resume walkthrough in this guide to continue. When returning from practice to a real workspace, review the actual record and your permissions before making a change. Tutorial completion does not perform the underlying task.

Before using this guide

Open the applicant Review stage after reviewing the preceding information. The practice sample is submitted and is for reading, not for making a new declaration.

Worked example

If an address is wrong, return to the appropriate editable stage before declaring the information correct. If the application is already submitted, use its correction or support route.

Guided component walkthrough

Each component has one short guided step. Read the explanation, then choose Next; Back revisits the previous component. The cursor only demonstrates useful navigation or an explicit action. Replay action repeats that demonstration, and Skip animation keeps the explanation. Use this written guide for feature details.

Application summary

  • Application summary: Everything entered for the check, gathered in one place so you can read it before confirming the declaration.
  • Submission information: Inspect the summary for the recorded declaration and submission state. A recorded submission is a point in the application workflow, not confirmation of a DBS certificate or outcome.
  • Review before confirming: Read the summary against the earlier stages: personal information, address history and the recorded evidence. Correct editable information before confirming a declaration. This sample is for inspection; no declaration is accepted or submitted by continuing the tutorial.

Stages after submitting

  • Stages after submitting: Once the declaration is confirmed, every stage stays readable but locked. This tutorial submits nothing.
  • Read the stage labels: Read stage names as well as their visual state. They identify what each part covers, so you can return to the relevant information without treating every completed stage as a completed DBS check.
  • Recognise locked stages: The stage rail remains useful after submission because it lets you read the submitted information. A completed or locked stage should not be interpreted as an invitation to submit again. Use the check reference when requesting a correction to a submitted record.

What the declaration covers

  • What the declaration covers: The declaration stands behind the details on these stage pages. Changing one afterwards is a separate, deliberate request.
  • Separate account and application details: The Name and date of birth panel belongs to this application. Updating a display name elsewhere in your account does not establish that a submitted application was corrected. Recheck the actual application details when a correction has been resolved.
