Complete a face capture

Before opening the camera #

Read the explanation and any consent requirement in the check’s face-verification stage. Use your own face for a real check and only synthetic demonstration material in a demo. Face capture is tied to the specific applicant and workflow.

Choose a well-lit place, hold the device steadily and make sure the browser can access the camera. Avoid a strong light behind you or anything that obscures your face.

Follow the capture guidance #

1. Open the face stage from your check.
2. Read and complete the required consent step.
3. Allow camera access through the browser prompt.
4. Position your face inside the guide.
5. Follow the on-screen movement or capture instructions.
6. Review the completion message and continue only when the capture is acknowledged.

Do not use another person, a photo of a person or altered media to bypass a live capture requirement.

Understand the result #

Capture completion, automated supporting analysis and an authorised identity review are separate events. ClearDBS uses assisted human review; the interface must not be interpreted as certified automated identity verification.

A low-quality or inconclusive capture can require a retake or another authorised review route. It does not necessarily mean the applicant has failed the entire check. Read the reason and next action shown on the stage.

Fix a camera problem #

Check browser and device camera permissions. Close another app that is using the camera and retry the stage’s start control. If the preview is black or frozen, stop and reopen the capture instead of submitting it.

If the issue persists, use Support with the device/browser and visible error. Never send face images or identity documents to chat as a substitute for the secure capture flow.

A score or flag helps a reviewer identify what needs attention. It is not a certificate or a final identity decision. If a real attempt needs another capture, follow the stated reason and retry instructions instead of assuming that any completed capture has passed.

When this stage is available on your own application, check the camera permission, lighting and framing instructions shown by the capture interface. If access fails, correct the browser permission before retrying. The tutorial neither enables a camera nor grants identity approval.

Open Review

• Open Review: Review brings the face stage together with the other evidence in the application summary. Read the recorded position and any next action before deciding whether anything needs to be repeated.
