Choose the right preference

Notification settings control the options displayed for your account, such as email notifications and in-app notifications. Read the description of each option before changing it. A personal preference is different from an organisation-wide delivery or compliance policy.

Turning off a preference is not proof that every transactional or required message is suppressed. The product’s specific notification rules and displayed explanations remain authoritative.

Change preferences

Open your profile or settings, adjust the available toggles and save. In AI chat, prepare Update notification preferences, review both values and approve. The card should show exactly which options are on or off.

In the demo these preferences are synthetic session values. They do not change a real user’s notification settings or trigger messages.

Confirm the result

Reopen the setting or inspect the completed action receipt. If a proposal becomes stale because you changed preferences elsewhere, prepare it again so the card reflects the current state.

A saved preference confirms the account setting. It does not mean an email was delivered or that an in-app event was created. Check the relevant activity or invitation record for that separate operation.

Handle missing or repeated messages

Confirm the account email, relevant preference and current invitation or check status. A message can be queued before it is delivered. Avoid repeatedly creating invitations or checks to test email delivery.

For a delivery issue, use Support with the operation’s reference and time. Do not send passwords, verification codes or full applicant details through chat.

Detailed walkthrough

1. Distinguish preferences from delivery

Notification settings describe which updates you prefer to receive. Enabling an option does not prove that an individual message has been sent or delivered. Check the relevant record when you need to know whether work has progressed.

2. Review each notification channel

Read Email notifications and App notifications separately. Decide where you need updates before saving a real preference. Turning one channel off should not be used as a way to cancel the underlying check or remove a task that still needs attention.

3. Troubleshoot an absent update

If an update seems missing, review the chosen channel and the current check status first. For email, also check the mailbox and filtering rules. Repeatedly changing preferences will not recreate an event that has not happened; use the reference when asking for help.

Practise this section

Open Help & tutorials, select this guide and choose Start practice walkthrough. Read each highlighted component before continuing. Use Back to revisit an explanation and Retry if a sample has not loaded. The walkthrough uses fictional records; do not enter real applicant information.

Use Exit tutorial to leave and keep your place, then Resume walkthrough in this guide to continue. When returning from practice to a real workspace, review the actual record and your permissions before making a change. Tutorial completion does not perform the underlying task.

Before using this guide

Open Settings → Notifications in the intended workspace. Check whether you are configuring personal updates or organisation workflow updates.

Worked example

If app notifications are on and email notifications are off, an in-app update does not imply an email should arrive. Inspect the underlying check before diagnosing a delivery problem.

Guided component walkthrough

Each component has one short guided step. Read the explanation, then choose Next; Back revisits the previous component. The cursor only demonstrates useful navigation or an explicit action. Replay action repeats that demonstration, and Skip animation keeps the explanation. Use this written guide for feature details.

Notification settings

  • Notification settings: Settings groups its controls by purpose, and this is the Notifications panel: everything that decides what ClearDBS tells you about.
  • Distinguish preferences from delivery: Notification settings describe which updates you prefer to receive. Enabling an option does not prove that an individual message has been sent or delivered. Check the relevant record when you need to know whether work has progressed.

Workflow notifications

  • Workflow notifications: Email notifications and App notifications are separate switches, so an update can reach you in one place without the other.
  • Email notification preference: Email notifications controls the email channel. Read its current state before changing it; the preference does not prove that a particular message was sent or delivered. This walkthrough leaves it unchanged.
  • In-app notification preference: App notifications is a separate channel for updates within ClearDBS. Check it independently of email, then use the relevant check record to confirm the actual workflow state.
  • Review each notification channel: Read Email notifications and App notifications separately. Decide where you need updates before saving a real preference. Turning one channel off should not be used as a way to cancel the underlying check or remove a task that still needs attention.

Nothing has been sent

  • Nothing has been sent: Demo controls show where the configuration belongs without contacting an external service. No test message has left this walkthrough.
  • Troubleshoot an absent update: If an update seems missing, review the chosen channel and the current check status first. For email, also check the mailbox and filtering rules. Repeatedly changing preferences will not recreate an event that has not happened; use the reference when asking for help.
