Read and sign a contract

Open the dedicated contract page, review parties and document content, and complete only your authorised signing steps.

Open the contract page

Choose a contract from Contracts. The document opens on its own reading and signing page, with the PDF, status, parties and available actions. Use the Contracts return link to go back to the list. Signing does not belong inside the list’s preview modal.

Check the title and parties before reading. A similarly named document may be a different agreement or version. A completed or closed agreement can be read without offering the same actions as an active signing request.

Read the complete document

Scroll through all pages and review any fields assigned to you. On a small screen, open document details where available to inspect parties and status. Use zoom or download controls if the PDF text is too small.

If the viewer cannot load, use the provided document link or download option. Do not sign a document you have not been able to read. A blank viewer is not a blank agreement.

Check whether it is your turn

Document access and signing authority are separate. The page should identify the relevant recipient and whether their action is pending, completed or waiting on another party. A workspace administrator is not automatically allowed to sign for everyone.

If the agreement is waiting for someone else, follow its status instead of trying a different account or link. Verification, recipient order and any consent requirements remain part of the signing workflow.

Complete your fields and signature

  1. Review the document and assigned fields.
  2. Complete the required information accurately.
  3. Use the inline signature or initials editor where provided.
  4. Read the confirmation and consent text.
  5. Submit through the page’s signing control.
  6. Confirm that the document status reflects your action.

AI cannot apply your signature, accept consent or decline an agreement on your behalf. Demo signatures demonstrate the interface using synthetic documents and are not real contractual execution.

After signing or declining

Read the updated status and any remaining parties. Your signature may complete your step while another signer remains outstanding. Use the available final document or audit/download controls when the agreement reaches the appropriate state. Contact Support if the displayed party or document version is wrong.

Detailed walkthrough

1. Read all of the agreement

Scroll through the document and review the parties, obligations and terms before considering a real signature. Opening or reading this sample does not accept the agreement. A walkthrough completion is never a substitute for reviewing the complete document.

2. Understand the document fingerprint

Compare the reference and fingerprint when checking which version of an agreement you are reviewing. A fingerprint identifies document content; by itself it does not prove signer identity or that somebody read and accepted every term.

3. Keep signing deliberate

Use the document details to confirm you are looking at the intended version before a real signing decision. If the parties or wording are wrong, resolve that first. The practice walkthrough does not sign, decline or create binding acceptance.

Practise this section

Open Help & tutorials, select this guide and choose Start practice walkthrough. Read each highlighted component before continuing. Use Back to revisit an explanation and Retry if a sample has not loaded. The walkthrough uses fictional records; do not enter real applicant information.

Use Exit tutorial to leave and keep your place, then Resume walkthrough in this guide to continue. When returning from practice to a real workspace, review the actual record and your permissions before making a change. Tutorial completion does not perform the underlying task.

Before using this guide

Open the intended agreement from Contracts or its authorised document link. Check the parties and reference before reading; practice never needs a signature.

Worked example

When two versions have the same title, compare the reference and fingerprint in Document details. Resolve a wording discrepancy before a real signing decision.

Guided component walkthrough

Each component has one short guided step. Read the explanation, then choose Next; Back revisits the previous component. The cursor only demonstrates useful navigation or an explicit action. Replay action repeats that demonstration, and Skip animation keeps the explanation. Use this written guide for feature details.

Main walkthrough

Contracts

  • Contracts: Each row is one agreement with its reference and whether it is waiting on a signature.
  • Open an agreement: The pointer has opened the sample agreement on its own reading and signing page. Confirm which agreement you are viewing and read its contents before considering a signature; this demonstration never signs it.

The agreement itself

  • The agreement itself: The full text, scrollable, with the signing controls kept below it. This document is fictional and the tour signs nothing.
  • Document reading area: Read the agreement in the main document area, scrolling through its full content. The record details alongside it help identify the document but do not replace reading its terms.
  • Read all of the agreement: Scroll through the document and review the parties, obligations and terms before considering a real signature. Opening or reading this sample does not accept the agreement. A walkthrough completion is never a substitute for reviewing the complete document.

Document details

  • Document details: Document details is now expanded. Read the reference to identify the record and the document fingerprint to distinguish this version. Expanding these details does not sign or accept the agreement.

Reference and fingerprint

  • Reference and fingerprint: The reference and fingerprint identify this document version. They do not prove that someone read it or establish signer identity. Signing and declining remain separate, deliberate actions; this walkthrough performs neither.
  • Document reference: Use the record reference when discussing an agreement. Confirm the document belongs to the intended person or organisation before starting a real signing flow.
  • Understand the document fingerprint: Compare the reference and fingerprint when checking which version of an agreement you are reviewing. A fingerprint identifies document content; by itself it does not prove signer identity or that somebody read and accepted every term.
  • Keep signing deliberate: Use the document details to confirm you are looking at the intended version before a real signing decision. If the parties or wording are wrong, resolve that first. The practice walkthrough does not sign, decline or create binding acceptance.
